BOARD OF SELECTMEN
SPECIAL MEETING JULY 5, 2007
TOWN OFFICE BUILDING 5:30 P.M.
First Selectman Eldredge called the meeting to order at 6:30 P.M. with the following in attendance: Selectmen Patton and Lewis, L. Nicholls and residents.
PUBLIC WORKS
The Board signed bills. Lynn commented she checked with MVD; municipalities only get registrations for their vehicles. Lynn reported she had correspondence from FEMA regarding money from the 2005 flood. The total we applied for was $33,100, the Town must pay 25% or $8,275 and they will pay $24,824. Discussion followed on the Turnpike Road Extension that this would pay for. There is more paperwork to do on this. Lynn provided the Board with a list of projects to come out of the time and material contracts. Discussion followed on the list. While this work is going on they will try to close up any open catch basins also. Lynn gave the Board compactor brochures she got from Willimantic Waste. Discussion on these followed. Selectman Patton gave the Board a list
of items and prices for the Town to put together a chemical shed. The total cost is $13,965.00 plus the time to install. A chemical shed, complete with everything and including delivery is $14,937.00. Discussion on this followed. Selectman Patton commented it would be better to get one that is complete and ready. First Selectman Eldredge commented he thought the electric quote was high and asked Selectman Patton to look at it and then we will decide where to go. Lynn commented Judy Anderson, Registrar of Voters, talked to her about getting rid of the old voting machines. Discussion on this followed; the machines may be auctioned or bid out. Discussion followed on the millings for the pump station and who is responsible for the circle. The work for the circle is in the W.J. Mountford contract. Lynn commented one of the crew is on vacation and when he is back they plan to do the millings. They need millings for the
River Road Recreation Area also. Discussion on this followed. Lynn will check with PZC about the millings for the River Road Recreation Area. Lynn commented that sweeping is complete.
